For Beginners - Vowels, Accentuation, "Troublesome" letters and the Alphabet

What you'll learn
Learn how to pronounce written Italian.
Being fairly able to hear a certain word and guess how it will be written in Italian.
Master the trickiest letter combinations in Italian.
Get acquainted with Italian vowel system, its difference from English and have a basic understanding of graphic accentuation.
Requirements
The only knowledge students are assumed to have is the ability to read the Latin alphabet (i.e. this alphabet that also English uses and with which I'm writing this). Very basic knowledge of grammar and phonetics terms will help but important terms used are clearly explained. To better memorize the content of the course, pen and paper is recommended while viewing the lessons, also to complete one of the class projects.
Description
Are you planning to start studying Italian? Or you're heading to Italy and would like to be able at least to read out Italian words in an understandable way? This course is your first step!Pronouncing correctly an Italian text is a task that can be learned before (or indipendently from) starting to learn the language because Italian is a "phonetic language" (i.e. a graphical sign - a letter or group of letters - will always corresponds to one sound only). My class is addressed both to students that are planning to start learning the language and to people that simply would like to get acquainted with written Italian (maybe because they're planning to go on holiday to Italy, or for work or personal reasons). While the class can benefit any English-speaking student (native of any language), a particular attention is dedicated to address the main difficulties that native English-speakers face when reading and pronouncing Italian. The course is divided into three main sections with an introduction and a conclusion:- Vowels and Accentuation- "Troublesome" letters and combinations of letters- The Italian Alphabet - general overview with examplesTo better memorise the content of the course, I suggest the three following activities (what I refer to as "class project"). All the related materials are attached to the last lesson.YOUR OWN CHEAT SHEET (aka YOU CANNOT CHEAT TO GET THE CHEAT SHEET)The main class project will be to reproduce in a colorful and attractive way the cheatsheet with Italian reading rules that I reference in my videos (and that I purposefully DO NOT share in the course material). It is important that students reproduce that cheatsheet by themselves as it allows to enter in the mindset of a "phonetic language", where a letter or a group of letters correspond to one sound only.TRICKY DICTATION EXERCISES - Download the audio files, listen to some short sentences and try to write them down. It will be challenging: the sentences focus on the trickiest combinations of letters in Italian.I prepared 4 letter-focused audios (Letter C; Letter G; Combination SC; Combinations GLI + GN) + the SuperChallenge: very tricky sentences referencing everything we have learned.READING LISTS - Practice reading and, if you want, learn some words using the word lists provided in the course materials. You can choose between 4 word lists divided by topic ("In the city", "In the countryside", "At the seaside", "In the hotel"). If you want you can record an audio and upload it here.
